Can any of the Aquascape lights be used in saltwater applications?
Aquascape LED lights are only designed and tested for fresh water applications, and above-water installations within landscaping. We do not recommend using our lighting for anything other than what they're designed for.
Can additional lengths of wire be added, if needed?
G1 - The cord between the transformer and the control panel is low voltage landscape cord and can be spliced, if desired, using outdoor-rated low voltage landscape wire and outdoor-rated wire nuts. The cord between the control panel and probe should not be spliced.
G2 – Yes, the cord on the G2 can be lengthened using the 25’ Cable Extension with Quick Connects Item #98998.
What are the electrical cord lengths?
G1 - The length of cord between the transformer and control panel is 10 ft. The length of cord between the control panel and the probe is 10 ft.
G2 – The length of cord between the transformer and control panel is 13 ft. The length of cord between the control panel and probe is 16 ft. and the length of cord coming off the probe is 6 ft.(total of 22 ft. when control panel and probe are connected).
Can the LED lights be added to an existing low voltage system?
Yes, they can be added to an existing system as long as there is still room on the transformer. You also need to be careful of some of the transformers that run higher voltage taps, such as Unique at 20-22 volts, as this can damage the driver in the LED fixture. The LEDs are recommended to operate between 10 and 15 volts.
Are the 1-watt LED bullet light/1-watt Waterfall light, and the Pond & Landscape LED Light Kit replacement diodes interchangeable?
*This article is in reference to the 2013 and earlier generation LED lighting with replaceable diodes*
The 1-watt LED bullet light and 1-watt waterfall light share the same replacement diode. The Pond & Landscape Light Kit has its own replaceable diode. They cannot be interchanged.
How much energy can you save from switching to the LED lights verses the Halogens?
Aquascape LED lights use approximately 80-90% less electricity and last longer than the halogen counterparts.
I have a 1-watt bullet light that flickers. Can this be fixed?
*This article is in reference to the 2013 and earlier generation LED lighting with replaceable diodes*
A replacement diode can be purchased to fix the issue.
Are your LED lights bright or do they have that blue color?
Our LEDs are 3000-3500 Kelvin temperature. They give out a natural-looking white light and blend in with most halogen lights in the landscape.
How do I hook-up my LED lights to an older transformer?
Simply cut the quick connect plug off the light and splice into the transformer as you would any landscape lighting.
How many lights can I put on a transformer?
Rule of thumb: Do not exceed 80% of the listed wattage on the transformer.
Are your lights fully-submersible?
Yes, all of our lights are fully-submersible and designed for use not only in the pond, but in the landscape environment as well. A gravel stand and stake are included for either use.
How bright are the 1, 3 and 6 watt bullet lights?
The 1-watt bullet light is equivalent to a 10-watt halogen bulb; the 3-watt bullet light is equivalent to a 20-watt halogen bulb; the 6-watt bullet light is equivalent to a 50-watt halogen bulb.
What size transformer comes in the Pond & Landscape Light Kit?
The Pond & Landscape Light Kit comes with a 12-watt transformer.
On the Pond & Landscape Light Kit, can you lengthen the distance between the lights?
The lights come daisy-chained, so there is a fixed distance of 5' between the lights. Aquascape does offer individual lights with longer cords.
Can I add lights to the 3 light kit?
Yes, the three light kit includes a transformer capable of powering up to 12 watts, so you could purchase multiple sets of Pond & Landscape Light Kits and string them together off of one transformer. You can also purchase the individual metal housing fixtures and add them to the Pond & Landscape Light Kit. It's also possible to purchase multiple Pond & Landscape Lights Kits and a larger transformer and string them together. You will need quick connect splitters for these connections. There are many combinations that are possible. You just need to make sure you don't exceed the maximum capacity of the transformer or the photocell (60 watts).
Will the photocell work under shady conditions?
No, the photocell will not work under conditions where not enough light is present. You should have the transformer/photocell away from any shady location, such as under a thick bush or on a deck with low sunlight conditions.
How long should the bulbs last on the LED lights?
Most halogen bulbs will last for 1 year, while LED lights can last for multiple seasons before the diode needs to be changed.
How do I change Blub/Diode on my LED lights?
*This article is in reference to the 2013 and earlier generation LED lighting with replaceable diodes*
There is a metal tool that is included with the replacement diode that allows you to unscrew a metal retaining ring on the front of the light. Remove the lens, gasket and then remove and replace the small diode circuit board. Note that the diode circuit board is "notched" and needs to go into the fixture in a certain direction in order to make electrical contact. The diode will not go in unless it is in the proper notched orientation.
