For waterlilies already established in the pond, fertilization can boost flowering and maintain healthy foliage.
- Add Once-a-Year Pond Plant Fertilizer Capsules (follow the recommendations on the fertilizer package for pot size and soil amount).
- Push the gravel aside and create a hole in the soil using an object such as a wooden handle, shovel, or piece of PVC pipe.
- Insert the capsule into the hole and ensure it is fully buried to prevent nutrients from leaching into the water, which could encourage algae growth. Depending on the pot size, several capsules per plant may be needed.
- Repeat the process for each waterlily, following the manufacturer's recommended application frequency (Aquascape’s fertilizer lasts 180 days or one growing season).
Tips
- Perform this task carefully to avoid disturbing the roots or stirring up sediment.
- Always wash your hands or tools after handling fertilizer to prevent contaminating the water.
