The IonGen probe must be installed in a location within the water feature that ensures optimal water flow and effective ion dispersion. Proper placement is critical to its performance and longevity.
Common Locations for IonGen Probe Installation
-
In the Skimmer Box
- Why: The skimmer box is an ideal location because it has consistent water flow and is easy to access for maintenance.
- How: Place the probe in the chamber of the skimmer, ensuring water passes over it before recirculating into the pond.
-
Near the Pump
- Why: Installing the probe in the pump’s vicinity ensures that water moving through the system is consistently ionized.
- How: Attach the probe in the same chamber the pump is located to maximize ion dispersion.
-
In the Pond Plumbing System
- Why: Inline installation ensures that water moving through the plumbing is exposed to the probe, providing uniform ion distribution.
- How: Install the probe in the IonGen Flow Chamber in the plumbing line exiting the Skimmer, Pump Vault or Pump Chamber.
-
In the BioFalls or Waterfall Filter
- Why: Water flowing through the BioFalls or filter provides an additional opportunity for ionization.
- How: Place the probe in the filter outlet where water exits and flows into the pond.
Tips for Proper Probe Placement
-
Ensure Good Water Flow
- Install the probe where water moves consistently and is well-circulated. Avoid stagnant areas where ionization may be ineffective.
-
Avoid High-Debris Areas
- Do not place the probe in locations where debris or sediment accumulates, as this can reduce its efficiency and lifespan.
-
Provide Easy Access
- Position the probe in a location that is easily accessible for regular maintenance, cleaning, and replacement.
-
Secure the Probe
- Ensure the probe is securely mounted or held in place to prevent movement and that the Probe and low voltage electrical cord are protected from the intake of any pumps
- By placing the IonGen probe in a location with consistent water flow and easy maintenance access, you can ensure optimal performance for algae control and water clarity.
