If your Aquascape automatic water fill valve is not adding water, will not shut off, or is not maintaining the correct water level, check the water supply, tubing, float, and valve adjustment.
Check the water supply
Make sure:
- The water supply is turned on.
- Water is reaching the fill valve.
- The supply tubing is not kinked, pinched, or blocked.
- All tubing connections are secure.
Aquascape automatic water fill valves require a pressurized water supply to operate.
Check the float
The float must move freely for the valve to open and close correctly.
- Remove leaves, debris, or other objects that may interfere with the float.
- Make sure the float is not stuck.
- Check that the valve is securely mounted.
Hudson Water Fill Valve: The float must remain in a flat vertical position to operate properly.
Check the water-level adjustment
If the valve is positioned too high or too low, it may not turn on or shut off at the correct water level.
- Turn on the pond or water-feature pump.
- Allow the water to reach the desired operating level.
- Adjust the fill valve so it shuts off at that level.
- Lower the water level slightly and confirm that the valve begins adding water.
Make the final adjustment while the water feature is operating.
Check for freezing
During extended freezing temperatures, water in the valve or supply tubing can freeze and prevent operation.
For applicable Aquascape fill valves, shut off the water supply and disconnect the supply tubing when preparing the system for freezing conditions.
If the valve still does not work
If water is reaching the valve and the float moves freely, but the valve still does not open or shut off correctly, the valve may need to be replaced.
Continue checking the pond or water-feature water level manually until the automatic fill system is operating correctly.
