Aquascape PL Series Pumps use white mineral oil. Replace the lubricant every 3,000 operating hours or 12 months, whichever comes first.
Inspect the lubricant
- Remove the oil plug, which is the Phillips-head bolt.
- Tilt the pump and drain a small amount of lubricant.
- Examine the lubricant:
- If it appears milky white or contains water, the mechanical seal may be faulty.
- The pump will need to be disassembled and repaired if the lubricant compartment contains milky lubricant.
- Replace the oil-plug gasket after inspecting the lubricant.
Change the lubricant
- Remove the oil plug.
- Drain all the old lubricant from the pump.
- Refill the pump with white mineral oil. Use the correct amount for your model:
- Replace the oil-plug gasket.
- Reinstall the oil plug.
Dispose of used lubricant and other waste through a qualified agent and in accordance with applicable laws.
