If your pond pump stops, run the aerator continuously until the pump is replaced.
A properly sized aerator can temporarily provide the oxygen your fish need, but it does not replace normal pond circulation and filtration.
While waiting for a replacement pump:
- Run the aerator 24 hours a day.
- Stop or greatly reduce feeding.
- Remove excess debris and uneaten food.
- Make sure the aerator is producing strong, consistent bubbles.
- Watch for fish gasping at the surface or crowding near the aerator.
- Replace the circulation pump as soon as practical.
Important: Hot weather and heavily stocked ponds increase oxygen demand, so restoring normal circulation quickly is especially important.
