Aquascape LED pond lights may flicker because of loose electrical connections, moisture in the connectors, insufficient voltage, an overloaded transformer, or excessive voltage drop from long cable runs.
How do I stop my LED lights from flickering?
Follow these troubleshooting steps to identify the problem.
-
Check the power supply.
- Confirm the transformer is plugged into a working GFCI-protected outlet.
- Check that the GFCI has not tripped.
-
Inspect the electrical connections.
- Disconnect power before inspecting connections.
- Make sure all quick-connect fittings, splitters, and extension cables are securely tightened.
- Inspect connectors for moisture or damage.
- Keep quick-connect fittings out of the water. Moisture entering these connections can damage the lights.
- Dielectric grease may be used on quick-connect connections to help prevent water infiltration.
-
Check the transformer voltage.
- Aquascape Pond and Landscape LED Lights require a 12 V outdoor-rated transformer.
- The lights must operate within 9–15 V.
- Have the voltage checked at the light using an appropriate voltmeter.
- Voltage outside the specified operating range can damage the LEDs and void the product warranty.
-
Verify the transformer capacity.
- Make sure the combined wattage of all connected lights does not exceed the transformer's rated capacity.
- Check for excessive loading when multiple lights are connected to the same transformer.
-
Check for voltage drop.
- Long extension cables may reduce the voltage reaching the lights.
- Position the transformer as close to the lights as practical to minimize voltage loss.
-
Check the photocell or timer, if installed.
- Verify that the photocell or timer is functioning properly.
What if my LED lights continue flickering?
If the flickering continues after checking the connections, transformer, voltage, and accessories, further inspection may be necessary.

Important: Do not operate the lights outside their specified voltage range or use damaged electrical connections.
