Yes. You can change the shape, length, width, or depth of your Aquascape Pond Kit during installation. However, all Pond Kits are designed for a standard depth of 2 ft (61 cm), and changing the dimensions may require adjustments to the pond size or additional materials.
How does changing the depth affect the pond dimensions?
The liner included with each Pond Kit is sized for the recommended pond dimensions at a depth of 2 ft (61 cm). If you want a deeper pond, you will need to reduce its length and/or width to use the included liner or purchase a larger liner.
Example: 11 × 16 ft Pond Kit
- Standard dimensions: An 11 × 16 ft (3.35 × 4.88 m) pond at 2 ft (61 cm) deep uses a 15 × 20 ft (4.57 × 6.10 m) liner.
- Increasing the depth: An 11 × 16 ft (3.35 × 4.88 m) pond at 2.5 ft (76 cm) deep would require a 16 × 21 ft (4.88 × 6.40 m) liner.
- Using the included liner: You could instead build a 10 × 15 ft (3.05 × 4.57 m) pond at 2.5 ft (76 cm) deep using the original 15 × 20 ft liner.
What else should I consider?
- Pond shape: You can change the shape as long as the included liner provides adequate coverage.
- Liner and underlayment: Account for planting shelves, pond depth, rock placement, and sufficient liner around the edges.
- Pump and filtration: Increasing the pond's overall size or water volume may require additional circulation or filtration capacity.
- Additional materials: Significant changes may require a larger liner, more underlayment, or other components.
Important: Always verify your liner requirements before excavation. The dimensions above are simplified examples; actual liner requirements depend on the pond's shape, shelves, and edge construction.
