It is normal for the UltraKlean Pond Filter to reduce water flow as part of the filtration process.
- Most setups will see approximately 20–30% flow reduction
- In higher flow applications or when using pumps near the upper limit of the filter, flow reduction can reach up to 50%
When using larger pumps, we recommend installing a Y-valve (or 2-way flow control valve). This allows you to:
- Direct a portion of the water through the UltraKlean Pond Filter
- Bypass excess flow back to the water feature
This helps maintain proper filtration performance while reducing strain on the system and improving overall flow. The UltraKlean 3500 Filtration Kit includes a Y-valve for this purpose.
