Yes. The fiberglass base of an Aquascape Faux Basalt Column can be cut when necessary for a custom installation or to fit the column into a tighter space.
The base can be trimmed using tools such as:
- Grinder
- Reciprocating saw, commonly called a Sawzall
When cutting fiberglass:
- Wear appropriate eye protection.
- Wear respiratory protection to avoid breathing fiberglass dust.
- Remove only the amount of material necessary for the installation.
- Make sure the column remains properly supported after the base has been modified.
- Secure the column if removing part of the base reduces its stability.
Important: Cutting, drilling, or otherwise modifying the Faux Basalt Column itself will void the product warranty.
Modifying the base may also change how the column is supported, so verify that the finished installation is stable before operating the fountain.
