White mineral deposits on decorative fountains are typically caused by calcium and other minerals in hard water. These deposits can leave a white, chalky residue on the fountain surface.
Aquascape Fountain Scale Free is specifically formulated to eliminate calcium and white-scale buildup from decorative water features.
How to remove mineral deposits
- Determine the amount of water your decorative fountain holds.
- Add Aquascape Fountain Scale Free at a dosage of one pump per 10 US gal (37.8 L) of water.
- Apply the treatment directly to the area with the most water circulation.
- Repeat as needed to address mineral buildup.
For ongoing prevention, apply Fountain Scale Free once weekly according to the product instructions.
Removing debris from the fountain
If the fountain also has accumulated organic debris, use Aquascape Rock and Fountain Cleaner.
- Remove as much loose debris as possible.
- Turn off the fountain pump to stop water flow.
- Spray the cleaner directly onto the affected areas.
- Allow the cleaner to work for at least 10 minutes before restarting the pump.
- Allow at least 48 hours for treated debris to break apart, then remove remaining debris as needed.
Rock and Fountain Cleaner is intended for debris removal, not specifically for dissolving calcium deposits. Allow 48 hours between applications.
Important: Follow all product-label instructions. Both treatments require a minimum water temperature of 32°F (0°C). Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaning tools that could damage decorative fountain finishes.
