An Aquascape UltraKlean Pond Filter may leak due to a dirty, damaged, or improperly seated O-ring, loose plumbing connections, an improperly secured lid, or excessive water flow from the pump.
Before troubleshooting, turn off the pump, unplug the filter, and relieve water pressure.
Check the lid and O-ring
If water is leaking around the lid:
- Remove the lid and inspect the O-ring for dirt, debris, cracks, or damage.
- Clean the O-ring and ensure it is properly seated in its groove.
- Reinstall the lid and securely close all lid clips.
If your filter is more than three years old, the O-ring may need replacement. Frequently opening and closing the filter can also increase the chance of damaging the O-ring.

Check the plumbing connections
If water is leaking around the inlet, outlet, or backwash fittings:
- Make sure all fittings are hand-tightened and the rubber gaskets are properly installed.
- Check that tubing connections are secure and hose clamps are tightened.
- Inspect fittings and gaskets for damage.
Do not use tools to overtighten fittings.
Check your pump size
Using a pump that exceeds the UltraKlean Pond Filter's maximum recommended flow rate may contribute to leaking.
- UltraKlean 2000 (#95053): Maximum 2,700 GPH
- UltraKlean 3500 (#95054): Maximum 5,200 GPH
