After a spring pond cleanout, use Aquascape Pond Detoxifier to treat replacement water as needed, followed by beneficial bacteria to help reestablish the pond's biological filtration.
Step 1: Treat the replacement water
Recommended product: Aquascape Pond Detoxifier
Pond Detoxifier helps make replacement water safe for fish and plants by neutralizing or detoxifying chlorine, chloramine, ammonia, and harmful heavy metals.
Treat replacement water according to the product label before returning fish to the pond.
Step 2: Add beneficial bacteria
Beneficial bacteria help restore the pond's biological balance after cleaning.
Choose treatments based on water temperature and pond conditions:
- Pond Starter Bacteria: Recommended after pond cleanouts and during spring startup to help establish beneficial bacteria. Suitable for water temperatures of 40°F (4.4°C) and above.
- Cold Water Beneficial Bacteria: Designed for water temperatures below 50°F (10°C), helping maintain water quality during early spring and cooler conditions.
The recommended temperature ranges overlap. Follow each product's instructions to determine the appropriate treatment and application schedule.
Important: Always follow the product label for proper dosage, application frequency, and water-temperature requirements.
