Follow these checks if your Smart Pond Dosing System XT has no power, is not dispensing treatment, is dosing inaccurately, or will not pair with the app. These instructions apply to item #40040.
Safety: Use a properly grounded, GFCI-protected outlet. Never handle power cords with wet hands. The XT system is weatherproof but must not be submerged.
If the system has no power
- Check whether the GFCI outlet has tripped.
- Make sure the transformer is plugged in.
- Check the power connections between the transformer, power cable, and control panel.
If the system still has no power, the manual recommends trying a replacement transformer. Use the correct outdoor-rated, low-voltage transformer for the XT system.
If the system is not dispensing treatment
Check the temperature: An internal thermostat shuts off the dosing pump below 40°F (4°C). Do not operate the XT system below this temperature. During freezing weather, remove the control panel, treatment, and intake assembly and store them in a frost-free location.
- Confirm that the system has power.
- Check that the internal and discharge tubing are properly connected and not kinked. Keep the discharge end above the water level.
- Inspect the tubing for debris or treatment residue. Clean blocked tubing with a soft pipe cleaner.
- Prime the system: Hold the x2 button for 3 seconds, until the blue light above it flashes. Treatment may take several minutes to reach the end of the tubing.
- Listen for the pump turning during priming. If it does not turn despite the system receiving power, the control panel may need replacement.
- If treatment still does not flow after these checks, the pump cartridge may need replacement. Use item #40041.
Priming stops automatically after approximately 3 minutes. You can also press the x2 button to exit priming once treatment begins discharging. Prime during initial setup and whenever a new treatment bottle is installed.
If the system is dosing inaccurately
If the XT pump is not dispensing accurately, replace the pump cartridge, item #40041. The cartridge wears over time, and Aquascape recommends replacing it once each year.
If the system will not pair with the app
- Confirm that the outlet is receiving power.
- Check that your network name and password are entered correctly.
- Confirm adequate Wi-Fi coverage at the controller. The XT system supports 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi networks.
- If pairing still fails, reset the controller: within 1 minute of connecting it to power, press and hold the + and − buttons together for 5 seconds. Release them when the LCD displays 88.
- In the Aquascape Smart Control App, select Add New Device and follow the on-screen pairing instructions.
