Water splashing outside your fountain basin is often caused by an uneven fountain, excessive pump flow, surrounding rocks deflecting water, or strong winds. These conditions can prevent water from returning properly to the reservoir.
How to prevent water from splashing outside the basin
- Check the fountain's position. Use a level to check the decorative fountain from side to side and front to back. An uneven fountain can cause water to flow outside the basin.
- Check the pump's water flow. The pump may be pushing more water than the fountain requires, causing excessive flow and splashing beyond the basin. If the pump has an adjustable flow control, gradually reduce the flow until water returns properly to the basin.
- Inspect surrounding rocks and boulders. Large rocks, decorative stones, or landscape boulders may redirect or deflect flowing water outside the basin area. Reposition any rocks that are causing water to splash beyond the reservoir.
- Consider wind conditions. Strong winds can blow or redirect falling water outside the basin, especially with taller fountains or water features with exposed water streams. Observe the fountain during calm and windy conditions to determine whether wind is contributing to water loss.
- Check the basin. Make sure the AquaBasin is level and properly supported. An uneven basin may affect the fountain's positioning.
- Observe the water flow. Run the fountain and verify that water flows evenly over the decorative feature and returns to the basin without excessive splashing.
If water continues splashing outside the basin after these adjustments, the fountain's positioning, pump flow, surrounding landscape, or exposure to wind may require further evaluation.
