Approximate Gallons of Water in a Stream
To calculate the approximate gallons of water in a stream, use the following formula:
Formula (Imperial and Metric):
- Gallons: Length (feet) x Width (feet) x Depth (inches ÷ 12) x 7.48 = Approximate gallons
- Liters: Length (meters) x Width (meters) x Depth (meters) x 1,000 = Approximate liters
Simplified Example (3-inch Depth):
- Gallons: Length (feet) x Width (feet) x 0.25 x 7.48 = Approximate gallons
- Liters: Length (meters) x Width (meters) x 0.0762 = Approximate liters
Make sure to adjust the depth for different stream depths as needed.
