A BioFalls® is designed to fill with water and flow over the waterfall lip. If water is overflowing from the sides or back, something is restricting or redirecting the flow.
Check the following:
- Clean the filter mats. Debris buildup can restrict water flow through the BioFalls.
- Check the BioBalls® or biological media. Make sure the media is not packed too tightly or blocking water movement.
- Remove algae, roots, or plant growth. These can redirect water toward the sides of the filter.
- Check the waterfall opening. Remove rocks, gravel, mulch, or other material that may be restricting the spillway.
- Inspect the liner around the BioFalls. Settled or low liner edges can allow water to escape behind or beside the filter.
- Check the pump flow. If the problem started after installing a larger pump or increasing the flow, too much water may be entering the BioFalls.
If the problem continues
Reduce the pump flow temporarily. If the overflowing stops, inspect the BioFalls and waterfall area for restrictions before restoring normal flow.
