A low flame or sudden drop in flame height is usually caused by low fuel, restricted gas flow, or the propane excess-flow safety device.
- Check the fuel supply. Refill or replace a low propane cylinder. For natural gas, verify the gas supply is available.
- Check the gas hose. Make sure it is not kinked, pinched, or restricted.
- Check the regulator connection. Make sure the propane regulator is fully and correctly connected.
- Check the burner. Clean any blocked burner ports or debris that may restrict gas flow.
Reset the Propane Excess-Flow Safety Device
If the propane valve was opened too quickly, the safety device may restrict gas flow.
- Turn the burner control to OFF.
- Close the propane cylinder valve.
- Disconnect the regulator.
- Turn the burner control to HIGH.
- Wait 1 minute.
- Turn the burner control back to OFF.
- Reconnect the propane cylinder.
- Slowly open the cylinder valve.
- Wait about 30 seconds.
- Ignite the fire feature normally.
If the flame remains low after these checks, contact a qualified gas professional.
