For best performance, install the Aquascape IonGen Probe in a location with strong, consistent water flow. The preferred installation method is in-line within the water feature's recirculating plumbing, but the probe can also be installed in a skimmer or filter.
Recommended installation locations
- In-line installation (preferred): Install the IonGen Flow Chamber in the plumbing after the pump. This provides effective water flow across the probe and helps distribute copper ions throughout the water feature.
- Skimmer or filter installation: The IonGen Probe can be installed directly in a skimmer, Pondless Waterfall Vault, or similar filter location using the IonGen Probe Holder, provided sufficient water flows across the probe.
Important: The IonGen Probe must remain fully submerged in water at all times to function properly.
Why is water flow important?
Insufficient water flow across the IonGen Probe can reduce its effectiveness and contribute to scale buildup on the probe bars.
If string algae is not being controlled:
- Check that sufficient water flows across the probe.
- Inspect the probe for scale or debris buildup and clean it if necessary.
- If water flow is inadequate, relocate the probe to an area with greater circulation.
For the most effective performance, Aquascape recommends installing the IonGen Flow Chamber directly into the water feature's recirculating plumbing.
