The Aquascape IonGen G2 probe should be replaced when its metal bars become significantly worn or deteriorated. The probe typically lasts one or more pond seasons, depending on usage, water chemistry, and maintenance.
Signs that your IonGen probe may need replacement:
Worn metal bars: The probe bars appear significantly eroded or deteriorated.
"00" on the control panel: On the IonGen G2 System, this may indicate an exhausted probe. Check the probe connections and cables before replacing it.
Reduced performance: The system struggles to maintain ionization levels even after cleaning the probe and confirming adequate water flow.
Note: Mineral buildup or debris on the probe does not necessarily mean replacement is needed. Clean the bars and inspect them for wear before replacing the probe.
Aquascape recommends starting each pond season with a new probe for optimal performance, although replacement may not be necessary if the existing probe remains in good condition.
