A zero or very low copper reading does not necessarily mean your IonGen System is malfunctioning.
Copper ions may be used within the pond, resulting in little or no measurable copper even when the system is operating properly.
What should I do?
- Monitor the amount of string algae growing in the pond.
- If string algae is being controlled, a low or zero copper reading may be normal.
- Do not continually increase the IonGen ionization setting simply to obtain a measurable copper reading.
- Continue testing periodically to ensure copper levels remain below 0.25 ppm (0.25 mg/L).
The effectiveness of the IonGen System should be evaluated by monitoring string algae growth, not solely by the copper test reading.
