If copper levels in your pond reach or exceed 0.25 ppm (0.25 mg/L), take steps to prevent further copper accumulation. Excessive copper levels can be harmful to fish and other aquatic life.
How to lower copper levels
- Reduce the IonGen System to level 1 or unplug the controller.
- Allow the copper concentration to decrease below 0.25 ppm.
- If copper levels are significantly elevated, perform a partial water change to help lower the concentration.
- Retest the pond water using a copper test kit.
- Once copper levels are below 0.25 ppm, resume normal operation at a lower ionization setting and continue monitoring.
Important: Never allow copper concentrations to exceed 0.25 ppm. Regular testing is especially important after adjusting the IonGen System's ionization setting.
