The Aquascape IonGen G2 System allows you to adjust the ionization level using the + and − buttons on the control panel. The appropriate setting depends on the amount of string algae in your pond.
How to adjust the ionization level
- Make sure the pond pump is running and the IonGen G2 System is powered on.
- Press and hold the + or − button for approximately 3 seconds to enter setting mode.
- Press + to increase the ionization level or − to decrease it.
- Once the desired setting is selected, stop pressing the buttons. The control panel will automatically exit setting mode.
What ionization level should I use?
- New ponds or minimal string algae: Start at level 1 or 2.
- Increasing string algae: Gradually increase the setting as needed while monitoring copper levels.
- Heavy existing string algae: Higher settings may be needed initially. Monitor copper levels closely.
- Once algae is controlled: Reduce the setting to the lowest level that maintains effective algae control.
Operating at lower ionization settings helps extend the life of the IonGen Probe.
Important: Regularly test copper levels, especially after increasing the ionization setting. Copper concentrations must remain below 0.25 ppm (0.25 mg/L) to protect fish and other aquatic life.
