Yes. Water treated with the Aquascape IonGen System is safe for people and pets when the system is operated according to the recommended guidelines and copper levels remain within the specified limits.
The IonGen System releases small amounts of copper ions into the water to help control string algae.
To maintain safe water conditions:
- Copper levels: Keep concentrations below 0.25 ppm (0.25 mg/L).
- Total alkalinity: Maintain between 100–250 ppm (100–250 mg/L).
- Regular testing: Monitor copper levels, especially when starting the system or increasing the ionization setting.
Important: Excessive copper concentrations can be harmful to aquatic life. Always follow the IonGen operating instructions and maintain the recommended water parameters.
