In an Aquascape BioFalls, the BioBalls are placed above the filter mats, not underneath them.
Install the filtration components in the following order, starting from the bottom:
- Filter support rack – Supports the filtration media, where equipped.
- Filter mats – Rest on the support rack and provide surface area for beneficial bacteria.
- BioBalls – Place the BioBalls inside the filter media bag and position the bag on top of the filter mats.
- Rock tray – Install above the filtration media, if equipped.
Water enters near the bottom of the BioFalls, flows upward through the filtration media, and exits over the waterfall.
Tip: Spread the media bags evenly over the filter mats without overfilling them or interfering with the rock tray.
