Water leaking around an Aquascape BioFalls spillway is typically caused by a damaged silicone seal, loose waterfall lip, improperly positioned pond liner, or water flowing behind the waterfall rocks.
What should I check?
Silicone seal: Inspect the connection between the BioFalls waterfall lip and pond liner for gaps or deteriorated sealant.
Waterfall lip: Check for loose or improperly installed mounting screws.
Pond liner: Look for tears, stretching, or insufficient liner coverage around the spillway.
Waterfall rocks: Check whether water is flowing behind or underneath the rocks instead of over them.
Waterfall foam: Inspect for gaps allowing water to escape outside the lined waterfall area.
How do I fix the leak?
For Signature Series BioFalls Filters with a removable waterfall lip:
Turn off the pond pump.
Remove any rocks blocking access to the waterfall lip.
Remove the waterfall lip and clean the contact surfaces.
Inspect the liner for damage and proper positioning.
Apply a thick, continuous bead of fish-safe silicone sealant around the BioFalls opening, following the mounting screw inserts.
Reinstall the waterfall lip and securely fasten the screws.
Allow the silicone to cure for at least one hour, or longer if specified by the sealant manufacturer.
Restart the pump and check for leaks.
If water is escaping beneath the waterfall rocks, apply Aquascape Pond and Waterfall Foam Sealant to redirect water over the stones.
What if the leak continues?
Inspect the pond liner and spillway connection for hidden damage or insufficient liner coverage.
If the leak continues, submit a request through the Aquascape Customer Care contact form.
