An Aquascape BioFalls Filter may overflow if water flow is restricted, filter media is improperly positioned, the waterfall opening is blocked, or the pump flow exceeds the filter's capacity.
How to fix an overflowing BioFalls
- Turn off the pump before inspecting the filter.
- Remove obstructions. Clear leaves, debris, rocks, or gravel blocking the waterfall opening.
- Check the filter mats. Make sure they are properly positioned on the support rack and are not obstructing water flow.
- Inspect the biological media. Make sure BioBalls and media bags are properly positioned and not overfilled.
- Check the pump flow. Verify that the pump does not exceed the recommended flow capacity of your BioFalls model.
- Restart the pump and check that water flows through the waterfall opening without overflowing the sides or back.
Important: Avoid unnecessary cleaning of BioFalls filter mats and biological media, as this can reduce beneficial bacteria.
If the BioFalls continues overflowing, submit a request through the Aquascape Customer Care contact form.
