The original Automatic Dosing System automatically dispenses specially formulated water treatments into ponds, fountains, and Pondless® Waterfalls. This discontinued system uses a control panel with plus (+), minus (−), and X2 buttons.

The following specifications apply to both original Automatic Dosing System models listed above, for the U.S./Canada electrical configuration:

- Included transformer rating: 6 W.
- Discharge tubing length: 6 ft (1.83 m).
- Dose adjustment: Plus and minus buttons select the water-feature volume; the X2 option doubles the normal dose.
- Housing: Weatherproof; not submersible.
- Cold-temperature protection: An internal thermostat stops the dosing pump below 40°F (4°C). Do not operate the system below this temperature.
- Electrical protection: Requires a GFCI-protected outlet.
Compatible treatments
The original Automatic Dosing System uses specially formulated dosing-system treatments. Its original 32 US fl oz (946 mL) treatment pouches have been replaced by SL treatment bottles, which are compatible with both the original Automatic Dosing System and Dosing System SL.
Using treatments not designed for the system may permanently damage the unit and void the warranty.
Originally included components
Both original kits included the dosing system, a 6 W transformer, 6 ft (1.83 m) of discharge tubing, an output hose holder, a water treatment, and a mounting plate.
