Older Aquascape Adjustable Flow Pumps (Gen. 1, Gen. 2, and Gen. 3) can be connected to a Gen. 4 Smart Pump Receiver using the appropriate conversion plugs.
The conversion plugs you need depend on which generation of pump you own.
Connecting a Gen. 3 adjustable flow pump
What you need:
- Gen. 4 Smart Pump Receiver
- Male-to-Male Conversion Plug (included with the Gen. 4 Smart Pump Receiver)
Connection instructions:
- Disconnect the pump and receiver from electrical power.
- Locate the electrical connector on your Gen. 3 pump.
- Connect one end of the Male-to-Male Conversion Plug to the pump's connector.
- Connect the other end of the conversion plug to the Gen. 4 Smart Pump Receiver.
- Make sure both connections are secure before restoring power.
Important: Gen. 3 pumps only require the Male-to-Male Conversion Plug included with the Gen. 4 receiver. No additional conversion plug is necessary.
Connecting a Gen. 1 or Gen. 2 adjustable flow pump
What you need:
- Gen. 4 Smart Pump Receiver
- Smart Control Conversion Plug — Item #45040 (sold separately)
- Male-to-Male Conversion Plug (included with the Gen. 4 Smart Pump Receiver)
Connection instructions:
- Disconnect the pump and receiver from electrical power.
- Locate the original 3-prong connector on your Gen. 1 or Gen. 2 pump.
- Attach the Smart Control Conversion Plug (Item #45040) to the pump's original 3-prong connector. This changes the connection to a female quick-connect fitting.
- Connect one end of the Male-to-Male Conversion Plug to the newly installed adapter.
- Connect the other end of the Male-to-Male Conversion Plug to the Gen. 4 Smart Pump Receiver.
- Make sure all connections are secure before restoring power.
Important: Gen. 1 and Gen. 2 pumps require both conversion plugs. The Smart Control Conversion Plug (Item #45040) must be purchased separately.
How do I know which conversion plugs I need?
- Gen. 1 pump: Requires two conversion plugs. One is included with the Gen. 4 receiver, and Item #45040 is purchased separately.
- Gen. 2 pump: Requires the same two conversion plugs as Gen. 1.
- Gen. 3 pump: Requires only the Male-to-Male Conversion Plug included with the Gen. 4 receiver.
If you need a replacement Male-to-Male Conversion Plug, it is available separately as Item #45062.
Note: Confirm that your adjustable flow pump is compatible with your specific Gen. 4 Smart Pump Receiver before installation. The conversion plugs do not make every pump model compatible with every receiver.
