The UV indicator light on your Aquascape UltraKlean Pond Filter shows when the UV bulb is operating. If the indicator is not illuminated, the UV timer may be in its scheduled off period, or there may be an issue with the power supply, bulb connection, safety switch, or UV bulb.
This troubleshooting applies to the UltraKlean 2000 Pond Filter (Item #95053) and UltraKlean 3500 Pond Filter (Item #95054).
Troubleshooting steps

Check the UV timer setting. Press the SELECT UV TIME button to select the operating schedule:
- 6 hours: UV operates for 6 hours, then turns off for 18 hours.
- 12 hours: UV operates for 12 hours, then turns off for 12 hours.
- 24 hours: UV operates continuously.
Select the 24-hour setting to check whether the UV indicator illuminates.
- Check the power supply. Confirm that the UltraKlean Pond Filter is plugged into a properly grounded, GFCI-protected outlet and that the GFCI has not tripped.
- Check the UV bulb connection. Disconnect power to both the pump and filter before servicing. Following the UltraKlean Pond Filter owner's manual, confirm that the UV bulb's four-pronged base is securely seated in its socket.
- Check the quartz sleeve collar. Make sure the retaining collar is properly tightened. The collar activates the internal UV safety switch.

Check the UV bulb. If the bulb has reached the end of its recommended operating life, replace it with the correct bulb for your filter:
- UltraKlean 2000: 14 W High-Output UV Bulb — Item #95030
- UltraKlean 3500: 28 W High-Output UV Bulb — Item #95031
The owner's manual recommends replacing the UV bulb after 12 months of continuous operation at the 24-hour setting. The timer may extend bulb life to 2 years at the 12-hour setting or 4 years at the 6-hour setting.

Important: Always disconnect power before servicing the UV assembly. Never bypass the UV safety switch or look directly at an exposed operating UV bulb. UV light can damage your eyes and skin. Make sure the bulb and inside of the quartz sleeve are dry before reassembly.
