An Aquascape UltraKlean 2000 or UltraKlean 3500 Pond Filter may leak because of loose plumbing connections, missing rubber gaskets, an improperly seated lid O-ring, or an unsecured backwash connection.
Important: Disconnect electrical power to both the pond pump and UltraKlean filter before inspecting or servicing the unit.
Water leaking from plumbing connections
- Inspect the inlet, outlet, and backwash fittings.
- Verify that the flat rubber gaskets are properly installed.
- Hand-tighten the threaded fittings.
- Check that the tubing is securely attached to the fittings and hose clamps are properly secured.
Do not use tools to overtighten plastic fittings.
Water leaking around the filter lid
- Disconnect electrical power and relieve internal pressure before opening the filter.
- Release the lid clips and carefully remove the lid.
- Inspect the O-ring and its seating groove for dirt or debris.
- Clean the O-ring and groove.
- Confirm the O-ring is fully seated around the entire canister.
- Apply silicone oil to the O-ring if needed.
- Reinstall the lid and securely close all lid clips.
Water leaking from the backwash connection
- Confirm the discharge shutoff valve is fully closed during normal filtration.
- If not using the discharge shutoff valve, make sure the backwash cap is securely installed.
- Inspect the backwash fitting and rubber gasket for proper installation.
After correcting the leak
Restore water circulation and carefully inspect all connections.
Even a small leak must be corrected because the UltraKlean is installed outside the pond. An unattended leak can result in pond water loss.
If the leak continues, submit a request through the Aquascape Customer Care contact form.
