The UV bulb in your UltraKlean Pond Filter can be replaced without opening the filter canister. Follow the steps below for both the UltraKlean 2000 and UltraKlean 3500 Pond Filters.
Select the correct replacement UV bulb
- UltraKlean 2000 Pond Filter (Item #95053): 14 W High-Output UV Bulb, Item #95030
- UltraKlean 3500 Pond Filter (Item #95054): 28 W High-Output UV Bulb, Item #95031
How to replace the UV bulb
- Disconnect power. Unplug both the pond pump and the UltraKlean Pond Filter before servicing.
- Remove the control panel cover. Lift off the plastic cover surrounding the control panel. No tools are required.
- Remove standing water. Inspect the area around the base of the control panel and drain any collected rainwater before proceeding.
- Unlock the control panel. Rotate the electronic control board counterclockwise to disengage it from the filter lid.
- Remove the UV bulb assembly. Carefully lift the control board and attached UV bulb straight up, taking care not to break the bulb.
- Remove the old UV bulb. Grip the base of the bulb and gently pull it out of the four-pronged socket.
- Install the new UV bulb. Insert the correct replacement bulb into the socket and reassemble the filter in reverse order.
- Check before reassembly. Wipe the bulb with a clean, lint-free cloth. Make sure there is no standing water or moisture inside the quartz sleeve or on the bulb before reinstalling the control panel.
- Restore power. Once the filter is fully reassembled, reconnect power to the filter and pump.
Important safety precautions:
- Never handle the UV bulb with bare hands. Oils from your skin can reduce its performance and lifespan.
- Handle the UV bulb carefully to prevent breakage.
- Never bypass the internal UV safety switch or operate the UV light while the filter is disassembled.
How often should the UV bulb be replaced?
For effective UV clarification, replace the bulb after approximately 12 months of continuous operation when using the 24-hour UV timer setting. The bulb-saver timer can extend its useful life when shorter operating periods are selected.
