Yes, filtration is still required even if you are using a UV clarifier.
A UV clarifier is designed to target single-celled algae (green water) by exposing it to ultraviolet light as water passes through the unit. While this helps improve water clarity, it does not remove debris, waste, or other physical contaminants from the pond.
Filtration is necessary to:
- Capture and remove debris and suspended solids
- Support beneficial bacteria that break down organic waste
- Maintain overall water quality and balance
For best performance, a UV clarifier should be used in combination with proper mechanical and biological filtration as part of a complete pond system.
