The Aquascape UltraKlear UV Clarifier installs outside the pond and connects to the pond pump's plumbing to help eliminate suspended algae that cause green water.
The following installation instructions apply to UltraKlear 1000, 2500, and 5000 UV Clarifiers.
1. Select the installation location
Install the UltraKlear outside the pond. The unit is weatherproof but must never be submerged.
Choose a location that is accessible for maintenance.
Secure the UltraKlear to a board on level ground or mount it using the supplied brackets and screws.
Position the unit near a properly grounded, GFCI-protected electrical outlet.
2. Verify the pump flow rate
Do not exceed the maximum recommended water flow through the UltraKlear.
UltraKlear 1000: Maximum 500 GPH (1,893 L/h).
UltraKlear 2500: Maximum 1,000 GPH (3,785 L/h).
UltraKlear 5000: Maximum 1,500 GPH (5,678 L/h).
If the pump delivers more than the recommended flow rate, use an appropriate bypass plumbing configuration to limit the flow passing through the clarifier.
3. Connect the plumbing
Connect the pond pump's discharge tubing to an UltraKlear inlet port.
Connect the opposite end port to the return tubing that carries treated water back to the pond.
Use the optional third port when needed for an alternative plumbing configuration.
Select the supplied Multi-Hose Adapters that match the tubing diameter.
Use tubing up to 1½ inches (38 mm) in diameter to minimize unnecessary flow restrictions.
Trim unused smaller sections of the stepped hose adapters when using larger tubing.
Install the supplied flat rubber gaskets and hand-tighten the threaded fittings. Do not use tools to tighten the fittings.
Secure the tubing connections using stainless steel hose clamps.
The supplied elbow fittings and rotational ball fittings can help accommodate different plumbing configurations.
Important: Do not block or restrict the UltraKlear discharge.
4. Start the UltraKlear
Confirm the UV bulb, quartz sleeve, and ballast are properly installed and secured.
Plug the pond pump and UltraKlear into properly grounded, GFCI-protected outlets.
Verify that water is circulating through the UltraKlear.
Inspect all external plumbing connections for leaks. Correct any leaks before leaving the unit operating.
Check the indicator light on the ballast to confirm that the UV bulb is operating.
UV safety: Never operate the UltraKlear while disassembled or bypass its internal safety switches. Direct exposure to ultraviolet light can injure the eyes and skin.
