Cold weather can reduce propane vaporization, causing the flame to become smaller or weaken during operation.
Signs of Cold-Weather Propane Issues
- Reduced flame height
- Flame gradually becoming smaller
- Frost or ice forming on the propane cylinder
- Fire feature starts normally but loses flame strength
What Should I Do?
- Turn the burner control OFF.
- Close the propane cylinder valve.
- Allow the cylinder to warm naturally.
- Replace it with a properly filled cylinder if needed.
Important
Never heat a propane cylinder with:
- Open flame
- Torch
- Heater
- Heat gun
- Hot water
- Any other artificial heat source
If the flame remains low after the cylinder returns to normal temperature, check for restricted gas flow or have the system inspected by a qualified gas professional.
