If the UV light on your Aquascape UltraKlean 2000 or UltraKlean 3500 Pond Filter is not turning on, check the UV timer, electrical power, bulb connection, quartz sleeve collar, and bulb condition.
Troubleshooting steps
- Check the UV timer setting. Use the SELECT UV TIME button to select 6, 12, or 24 hours. The UV bulb only operates during the selected operating period.
- Check the power supply. Confirm that the UltraKlean is plugged into a properly grounded, GFCI-protected outlet and that the GFCI has not tripped.
- Inspect the bulb connection. Disconnect power to both the pump and filter before servicing. Verify that the UV bulb's four-pronged base is securely seated in its electrical socket.
- Check the quartz sleeve collar. Make sure the collar is properly tightened. The collar activates the internal UV safety switch.
- Inspect the UV bulb. Replace the bulb if it has exceeded its recommended operating life.
Important UV safety precautions
- Always disconnect electrical power before opening the filter or servicing the UV assembly.
- Never bypass the internal UV safety switch.
- Never look directly at an exposed operating UV bulb. Ultraviolet light can damage your eyes and skin.
- Keep the UV bulb and the inside of the quartz sleeve free from moisture before reassembly.
If the UV light still does not operate, submit a request through the Aquascape Customer Care contact form.
