Aquascape requires proof of purchase to verify warranty eligibility. The original purchase receipt is preferred, but other documentation may be accepted if it provides enough information to identify the product and establish when it was purchased. If proof of purchase is unavailable, some products may be evaluated using a readable date code or serial number.
Original receipt
A receipt from the original place of purchase is the preferred proof of purchase. Keep a copy of your receipt whenever possible, since Aquascape warranties are generally based on the original purchase date.
Contractor or installation invoice
If an Aquascape product was supplied and installed by a contractor, the contractor's invoice may be accepted as proof of purchase if it includes:
- An itemized list identifying the Aquascape product or products installed
- The purchase or installation date
An invoice showing only the total project cost or labor charges without identifying the products may not provide enough information to verify warranty eligibility.
Credit-card statement
A credit-card statement may be accepted in certain situations if it includes enough information to identify the product and purchase date.
A statement showing only the retailer's name and the total amount charged may not be sufficient because it does not identify which Aquascape product was purchased.
No receipt available
If you no longer have your receipt, first check with your contractor or the original place of purchase to see if they can provide a copy of the receipt or invoice.
If proof of purchase cannot be obtained, you may still be able to submit a warranty claim if the product has a readable date code or serial number that can be used to determine whether it is within the applicable warranty period.
Using a product date code
Many Aquascape products have a date code or serial number that identifies when the product was manufactured. Depending on the product, the code may be located on the product body, power cord label, packaging, or another product-specific location.
If a date code is used instead of proof of purchase, warranty eligibility is determined using the product's manufacturing date rather than the customer's actual purchase date. This could result in a shorter available warranty period.
Not every Aquascape product has a usable date code. Some products specifically require proof of purchase, so a date code cannot always replace a receipt or invoice. The Aquascape Product Warranty Guide identifies date-code locations and formats for individual products.
