No. Damage caused by running an Aquascape pump dry is generally not covered under the manufacturer's limited warranty because it results from improper operating conditions rather than a manufacturing defect.
A pump can experience a run-dry condition even when water is present in the pond or water feature. Run-dry damage occurs when the pump does not receive sufficient water for proper operation.
Common causes include:
- Low water levels: Insufficient water in the pond, skimmer, Pondless® Waterfall Vault, or intake bay.
- Blocked water flow: Leaves, debris, or other obstructions restricting water from entering the pump.
- Lack of maintenance: Clogged skimmer baskets, filter mats, or pump intakes that prevent adequate water flow.
Insufficient water flow can cause the pump to overheat and damage internal components. In SLD Pond Pumps, excessive heat can distort or dislodge internal ceramic bearings and plastic bearing housings.
Aquascape's limited warranty excludes damage resulting from misuse, unreasonable use, or lack of reasonable maintenance or care, as applicable to the product.
Warranty eligibility is determined through evaluation of the pump. If inspection identifies damage caused by running dry rather than a manufacturing defect, the claim may be denied.
