If the internal slider or arm in an Aquascape Pro Air 20 or Pro Air 60 is rubbing against the magnet, the diaphragm assembly may no longer be holding the moving arm in its proper centered position.
Possible causes include:
- Worn, stretched, or damaged diaphragms.
- Diaphragms that are not seated correctly.
- Loose or incorrectly installed center hardware.
- Uneven wear between the two diaphragm assemblies.
- On the Pro Air 60, wear to the diaphragm housing may also contribute to improper alignment.
What should I check?
- Unplug the compressor before opening the housing.
- Inspect both diaphragms for cracks, stretching, deformation, or other damage.
- Make sure both diaphragms are seated evenly.
- Check the center hardware and verify the screw or nut, plastic disc, and thin plastic washer are installed correctly and secure.
- On the Pro Air 60, inspect the diaphragm housing for excessive wear.
- With the compressor unplugged, gently move the internal arm and verify that it remains centered and does not contact the magnet.
The internal slider or arm should not normally rub against the magnet during operation.
Replacement parts
- Pro Air 20: Use the appropriate Pro Air 20 diaphragm or renew kit when the diaphragms are worn or damaged.
- Pro Air 60: Replace worn diaphragms and inspect the diaphragm housing. The Pro Air 60 replacement diaphragm kit includes replacement diaphragms and a diaphragm housing.
If the rubbing continues
If the arm continues to contact the magnet after the diaphragms and related components have been inspected or replaced, discontinue operation and contact Aquascape Technical Support for additional troubleshooting.
