An Aquascape Pro Air 20 or Pro Air 60 should operate relatively quietly. A new rattling, buzzing, knocking, or unusually loud vibration may indicate restricted airflow, excessive vibration, or wear inside the compressor.
What to check
- Clean the air intake filter. A dirty or restricted inlet sponge can reduce airflow and increase operating noise.
- Check the airline and diffusers. Make sure the tubing is not kinked or blocked and that the diffusers are allowing air to pass freely.
- Check the compressor placement. Place the compressor on a solid, level surface and make sure the rubber feet are intact.
- Inspect the diaphragms. Worn or damaged diaphragms can cause increased noise, vibration, or reduced airflow.
- Listen for internal rubbing or knocking. Noise coming from inside the compressor may indicate worn or misaligned internal components.
If the noise continues
Disconnect power before opening or servicing the compressor. If the noise continues after checking the filter and airflow, inspect the diaphragm assemblies for wear or damage.
