Yes. The Aquascape IonGen System G2 is designed for use in ponds containing fish and aquatic plants when operated according to the recommended guidelines.
The system releases controlled amounts of copper ions to help control string algae. Excessive copper concentrations can be harmful to aquatic life, so regular water testing is important.
To safely operate the IonGen System, maintain the following water conditions:
- Copper: Keep levels below 0.25 ppm (0.25 mg/L).
- Total alkalinity: Maintain between 100–250 ppm (100–250 mg/L).
- Regular testing: Monitor copper levels, especially when starting the system or increasing the ionization setting.
Important: Do not operate the IonGen System in ponds containing fish if total alkalinity is below 100 ppm.
For best results, operate IonGen at the lowest ionization setting that effectively controls string algae.
