Repeated scale buildup on the Aquascape IonGen Probe is usually a sign of insufficient water flow across the probe.
The IonGen System has a built-in self-cleaning feature that helps reduce scale buildup, but it requires adequate water flow to work properly.
Excessive scale buildup can:
- Reduce the release and distribution of copper ions, decreasing algae control effectiveness.
- Affect the ability to increase or decrease the ionization setting on the control panel.
How to fix scale buildup
- Clean the probe: Brush or gently scrape scale buildup from the IonGen Probe bars.
- Check water flow: Make sure there is sufficient water movement across the probe.
- Relocate the probe if needed: If scale repeatedly returns, move the probe to an area with greater water flow. Installing the Flow Chamber directly into the main recirculating plumbing is the preferred method.
Regularly inspect the IonGen Probe for scale buildup and excessive wear to maintain proper performance.
